Sunscreen fabric — usually 3%, 5% or 10% openness — cuts glare and UV while keeping the view visible through the weave. The lower the percentage, the more heat and glare it stops, at the cost of a little clarity. A 3–5% weave is the standard choice for the big, north- and west-facing glass most Helderfontein homes are built around.
Blockout fabric does the opposite job: total dark for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, plus a genuine insulating layer against summer heat and winter cold. It's the fabric to reach for anywhere the goal is "no light at all," not "less light."
Most Helderfontein bedrooms end up running a double roller — blockout for night, sunscreen for day, on the same headrail. It's the practical middle ground between wanting the view during the day and actually sleeping in on the weekend.

Roller blinds are quoted per square metre, installed, and it is the fabric and the control that move the figure rather than the size of the house. Manual, on a chain or spring, in sunscreen or blockout: R1,000 to R1,600 the square metre. Motorised, the same opening runs R2,500 to R3,800, which takes in the tube motor, the control you pick and commissioning on the day.
Small windows are charged at a minimum instead of by area, since a narrow bathroom pane uses the same tube, brackets and fitting time as a wide slider. And a band is not a quote: the number for each of your own openings is worked out at the free measure and written up before an order is placed.
